I’m getting back into the swing of things over here after the holidays. I had a great road trip to Mammoth for New Years and shot this photo on the way up. It was a perfect day on the open road with my husband driving and our dogs in the back seat. (well half of the time in the back seat and half of the time on my lap)

One of my favorite memories of the holidays growing up was always putting up my mothers ceramic nativity scene. It was basically the only decoration that has still lasted since my childhood and I think it is about time I get one of my own. After seeing this Alexander Girard set over at House Industries, I am wishing I had an extra $800 lying around for this beauty!

I just got these little pretties in the mail from The Curiosity Shoppe. I can’t wait to put these Italian Push Pins to use on my inspiration board.

This past weekend I was visiting a friend in New York for her birthday. I’ll take any excuse to go to the city and I think that was a good one! On Friday I did my fair share of shopping in Soho and just as the sun was getting lower in the sky I snapped this photo down one of the pretty streets.

Another one of my now favorite spots in New York is the High Line park. I took this photo from the High Line looking down over one of the streets below.

How fun are these!? The prints and patterns coming out of Charlotte Taylor’s Spring/Summer 2012 collection quickly put a smile on my face. I recently bought a  green blouse of hers complete with a pattern of snails! Which, of course, only confirms that I am always a sucker for a print with animals.  (Just like I mention here and here.)

I think her collection has just the right amount of whimsy and I sure wouldn’t mind if each one of her pieces made a little home in my wardrobe. If you don’t know her story you can check out the Charlotte Taylor blog here where she explains that her label is inspired by “grannies, bird ladies, penguins and much much more.” ha…LOVE!

I spotted this whimsical maxi dress from Starstyling over at Olive Shoppe.  Starstyling is the brainchild of designers Katja Schlegel and Kai Seifried, whose graphic pieces and bright colors could liven up any closet. I also couldn’t help but notice how this “Agate Maxi Dress” resembles our little Greenroom passport journal.

I received my copy of “Decorate” the other day and spotted one of my notebooks right there in the beautiful pages. It is pictured in the studio of Leslie Shewring of a Creative Mint. The book, written and compiled by Holly Becker of Decor8 and Joanna Copestick is packed with gorgeous photos taken by Debi Treloar.

So…yesterday I was wearing this dress from Madewell and my husband was wearing a lilac button up shirt the same color as this Ralph Lauren Sweater. I kind of loved the color combo so I thought I would see what it looked like in one of our greenroom patterns. Turns out it’s a little crazy, but definitely a fun tweak on the safer pink and orange combination.

Speaking of Michigan… here is a photo from a recent trip back there. I took this photo standing about halfway down one of the huge sand dunes in Sleeping Bear Dunes. The view is looking over Lake Michigan below. Coincidentally, about a week after I took this photo, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Mi was voted “The most beautiful place in America” through Good Morning America. See the video and article here.
